BEDID - Day 5 - My Dream Garage

Got a question or topic you want to see blogged in December? Email me or post it here.

Question from JP:

So what's your dream garage? Say top 5 picks regardless of price.

I stuck to new cars to keep it easy. (All images courtesy of insideline.com):

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster - Speed, Style & Class.

Ford F-150 Raptor - Camping, offroading, dune running machine.

Tesla Model S - To satisfy my inner environmentalist & off set the Raptor above.

Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon - Roadtrip car, of course.

Mazda MX-5 Miata - Not to perpetuate any stereotypes or anything, but I want a canyon carver.

BEDID - Day 4 - You Ask, I Tell, Part 1

Got a question or topic you want to see blogged in December? Email me or post it here.

Hey guys, first off I really wanted to thank those of you who have sent in questions. You would not believe how much easier and thought-provoking it is to write on a specific topic coming from people other than myself! It makes the whole blog-everyday thing so much more manageable. Please keep them coming!

And speaking of which, I'm going to try and answer a few more of your questions here. Don't worry, I will get all your questions answered by the end of the month. I'm slowly gathering my thoughts for each one and some definitely take more than others, but they will be answered, rest assured. Anyway, here we go:

Question from Jeff:

So why do you have the moniker "ClosetCarGuy"?

Well, it was mostly because when I started this blog, I was a closeted gay guy who happened to like cars. It was supposed to be a theme that I was planning to run with a little more than I have so far; a bit of an extension of my personality and interests. You can probably bet on seeing more car-related posts this month (did you like yesterday's post? =P ). I also wanted to put it out there since being a car guy is seen as a kind of masculine hobby, and of course the assumption is that masculine =/ gay, so if I can write/share something I love while demonstrating not all gay guys are some sort of stereotype and being a sort of advocate, great.

Along that line, I guess now would be a good time to mention that I also work at a dealership part-time as a detailer/lot guy (it's why the first BEDID was posted late in the day) for some extra cash. It's a great job that satisfies my inner car guy, but I definitely sense that machismo that's in the automotive industry bouncing around sometimes. I’ve heard managers and salespeople refuse to take home cars because they’d “look like a fairy driving it” and I've also heard some pretty off-colour statements about customers' dress or mannerisms or even their partners. I'm a little disappointed that I haven't outed myself there yet to make a bit of a statement, but for one, I don't work there frequently enough; two, turnover's pretty high, so it's hard to build a relationship to trust someone enough; and three, I'm there to work first and foremost, and I'm usually by myself detailing a car anyway. Perhaps in time though. Funny thing is though, I know for a FACT there's another gay guy working there, I'm just not sure if he's out to anyone at work or not.

Question from Kevin:

How about your preparation for that though mudder thing? Looking like a para trooper by now? lol

Haha, I wish. Nate, Cara and I joined a 5K. running clinic for Cara to start off running and for me to ease back into it (last time I seriously ran was probably 2 years ago). We can probably run 5K pretty consistently now, but that’s nowhere near the 10mi./16K Tough Mudder course, so we’re looking to ramp up to a longer distance running clinic. Ideally, I’d like to be able to run a half-marathon so I can complete the 10 mi. and still have something leftover in the tank to handle the obstacles, but we’ll see if I can make it in time for this year’s event in June.

Nate and I are also supposed to be getting a gym membership at the local community centre so we can do some strength training, which I sorely, sorely need. If anybody's got some good strength training workouts that can be done from home, I'd like to hear them too. It's probably easier to go to the gym and use the equipment though...that is, if I don’t get distracted by other guys’ technique while I’m there :P

Hope you guys are enjoying BEDID so far. Be yourselves and I'll see y'all tomorrow.

BEDID - Day 3 - A Gay Car Guy's Guide to Boywatching

Got a question or topic you want to see blogged in December? Email me or ask it here.

One of the things Lindsay and I used to do while we were bored in traffic was boywatch. And, as a car guy, I couldn't help but notice what kind of cars guys were driving. It's purely anecdotal and depends on your taste and locale, but here's a list of cars that I found hot guys driving, so be on the lookout:

-Pontiac Sunfire/Chevy Cavalier/Cobalt

 -Ford Ranger

-Other American pickups (Ford F-150/Dodge Ram/Chevy Silverado)

-Older Honda Civics (EK & EM2 Coupes especially):

-Mk4 Volkswagen Jetta/Golf

-Mazda Protege5

-Jeep Wrangler

So tell me, what do hot guys drive in your area?? Or better yet, do you drive any of the cars on this list? :P

BEDID - Day 2 - "Dude, you're grinding up against my stomach."

Got something you want to see blogged in the month of December? Email me, or ask it here.

Question from Kevin:

Ever thought something sexual about one of 'the guys'?

Unless you consider daring Danny to wax his pubes for $50 a sexual thought, the answer is no. It’s cliché, but these guys really are the closest thing I have to brothers. And just like siblings, I can appreciate why girls might find them physically attractive, but I have no desire to fuck any of them. The thought of it just feels really wrong and gross. It's kind of the same feeling you might get when somebody tells you "Dude, your sister is hot." Just...no. It also helps, as one of the guys, that they try their damndest to do the most repulsive things around you.

That being said, since I’ve come out to them, I think we’ve all become a lot more relaxed and secure in our sexualities. I’m sure a lot of you have experienced it, but between buddies, it's like there’s a penalty for acting or doing something that might be misconstrued as gay and it kind of rules the dynamic between you guys. Don’t you love masculinity? (Hopefully during the break, there’s a book I’ve been meaning to read about this…stay tuned) Now that I’ve come out, I think we’ve broken down that barrier and all realized? Accepted? that there’s nothing to lose being a homo/homoerotic around each other, since…well, I am one. And now we just do it to be ridiculous and tease each other. Quote in the title? From 5'7' Brian the last time we went clubbing (and before you ask, HE CAME ON TO ME.). Randomly slapping each other in ass? A more frequent occurrence...unfortunately. Hell, Nate gets into fake arguments with Cara over me…after Nate bailed on some of plans a few weeks ago, the conversation ended something like this:

Cara, grabbing my arm: “It’s okay if you can't make it, you know Matt’s my replacement boyfriend.”

Nate, jokingly: “What? Bitch, please…he’s mine. You know I’ve got way more game than you do."

Me, reveling in the attention: “Uh…guys, you know there’s more than enough of me to go around. No need to ‘fight’.”

God, I have weird friends.

BEDID - Day 1 - My Type

Got a question or topic you want to see me blog? Email me or post it here.

And so I begin my Blog-Everyday-In-December (BEDID) Challenge, and being in a bit of scandalous and gossipy mode I thought I'd start off with my ideal guy.

Lets start off with the superficial:
  • Boy-next-door good looks - I've got a weak spot for a cute guy with an angelic face :)
  • I like dirty blondes- and keep the hair short please :)
  • I'm not picky about eye colour, but lets say blue?
  • Muscular build - My guy doesn't have to be completely ripped, but a little definition is always appreciated. And for what it's worth, I like my guys a little bigger (I've got the thin side covered)...I'll take stocky, especially if we're talking rugby player :P. And I'm a huge sucker for a nice chest and arms.
  • I'm about 6', 6'1...around my height would make me happy. I'd prefer it if I didn't have to stand on my tippy toes or bend down to kiss a guy.
  • Not the biggest fan of tattoos, facial hair (a couple days worth of scruff is kinda hot, though)
  • Bubble butt please :P Not too picky about cock size, average and above is alright with me.
So basically, I'm looking for the All-American boy. Of course, this is only an ideal...and trust me, I'm willing to make a lot of exceptions here. A LOT. The good stuff, a little less so:
  • Strong morals - Most important is a guy that is true to his self and stands behind his principles no matter what. I have a lot of respect for people that are loyal, honest and just generally  good to others.
  • Outgoing and emotional - I'm looking for someone to balance me out. I tend to be quieter and guarded (if you haven't figured that out already),and I find I click better with people who are more outspoken and emotional.
  • Playful - I blame my sister for this. Being a big brother, it's habit to tease and bother people, so I'd love a guy who can be a little childish and playful right back.
  • Touchy-feely - See the above. I tend to give random hugs or pokes, so...
  • Family Oriented - I think a lot of the characteristics I'm looking for comes out of having a good family and being close with your parents and siblings.
  • Intelligent- I'm not asking for MENSA quality, but the ability to process the world around you and form your opinions is appreciated. Bonus points for good grammar.
  • A Car-Guy! - I can forsee this getting really expensive though. And possibly some ugly fights about who gets the keys :P
  • Non-smoker - My grandfather smokes. It's gross. I hate the smell. If I'm going to be getting all up close to you, you better not smoke.
  • Clean-cut - As in no drugs or alcohol. Social drinking is fine, but I'm not a big partier and basically never drink, so it'd be a lot easier if he rarely did too.

Anyway, sorry for the slow start to December, but I hope my embarrassing, 16 year old girl post made up for it. Keep the questions coming and I'll be answering some of them in the coming days.
